Frequently Asked Questions
how much is the time commitment for analysts?
Analysts are required to attend our bi-monthly lectures on Sunday nights. In addition to these lectures, they are expected to complete the readings and projects, which can take anywhere from 1-2 hours per week. If the analyst opts to undertake an internship with one of our partners (which we hope they will!), the projects can take up to another 5 hours per week.
In short, analysts should expect 5 hours of commitment per week over the duration of the program.
HOW can i get involved with cvp other than the analyst program?
You can check out our events! CVP hosts bi-weekly events that are open to the entire student body. Events range from round-table discussions, to TEDtalks, to networking events, to demo days, to sample lectures. Follow us on Facebook for more information.
You can also subscribe to our bi-weekly mailing list for upcoming events, outside events in the NYC area, internship opportunities, blog posts written by our members, and summaries of recent news in the VC community.
Lastly, if you're involved in another organization on campus that would be interested in partnering with CVP to co-host events, please feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
What kind of students do you look for for your analyst program?
Our analyst program is open to any Columbia or Barnard student, both undergraduate and graduate. All ages and backgrounds are welcome! You do NOT need prior experience in venture capital (though we also welcome seasoned investors), just an interest and passion about learning for the space.
